Production process for Daegu’s tap water
The tap water of Daegu is produced through a highly effective purification and processing system. Our region operates an advanced water treatment facility at Nakdonggang River (water source) and a rapid filtration facility at the water source from the Nakdonggang River dam, which together produce extremely high-quality, clean tap water.
Advanced water treatment facility
General filtration treatment facility
- * Pre-ozone contact site : where algae and trace amounts of harmful substances, including 1,4-dioxane, are removed from the water
- * Water intake center : where source water is drawn and sent to a water purification plant for use as tap water
- * Mixing basin :where chemicals are mixed into the water well
- * Coagulation chamber : the chemical process of contact and adhesion whereby the particles of a dispersion (colloids) form larger-size cluster (flocs or flakes)
- * Settling basin : where concentrated matter is allowed to settle out of the water
- * Sand filtration site : where the water is filtered by passing it through layers of sand and gravel
- * Ozone contact site : where organic substances are decomposed or oxidized
- * Activated carbon absorption site : where organic substances are removed through absorption
- * Purification site : where water is stored after the treatment process is completed
- * Distribution reservoir : where water from the water purification plant is stored before being used as tap water
